Perry Samurai

Here are a few quick pictures of some Perry Samurai that I have been working on.

The dress thing on the second Samurai was painted with P3 paints. This was my first try using these paints, and I really liked them! The red is very rich, but not to fantasy looking...

I had a bit of trouble at first painting Japanese flesh, but I think I got it sorted out in the end. As a base for the skin I used a 50:50 mix of Vallejo Cavalry Brown and Vallejo German Camo Med Brown. Them, I used GW Vomit Brown. I then used a 50:50 mix of Vomit Brown and Foundry Flesh 5C to highlight. I think it turned out rather well in the end!

This model is by Dark Slave Miniatures. The cape was Games Workshop reds, which I really like using for Spartan cloaks, as it is a nice, rich color. The flesh was done with lots of Vallejo browns and fleshe tones.... so many that I can't even remember which ones!

The model did not come with a rock base, so I made my own from cork.

Foundry Romano British

Back to painting Ancients... Here is the last of my Foundry Romano-British, with an LBM shield design.

I have three Gripping Beast Romano-British spearmen that are on the painting table, and they will be finished in time for the monday update.

15mm Xyston Greek General

After looking at the wonderful work of Carl Robson of Raven Painting (http://www.ravenpainting.co.uk/) I really wanted to try doing some detailed 15mm models. And the result is a Xyston Greek general. I tried NMM (Non-Metalic Metal) on him, but didn't do a very good job... Overall I had a very fun time on him, and look forward to finishing up some more!

The cloak is Foundry Sky Blue, the Red is GW Red Gore and Blood Red, and the Green is GW Snot Green followed by Goblin Green. Skin is the Foundry Flesh trio.

Yet Another Romano-British Spearman...!

Here is another Foundry Romano-British spearman. This time, however, I tried my first LBM shield design.... and I wasn't too pleased with it! I am so used to waterslide transfers that these things that don't need water threw me off completely. I really messed up on the shield! However, besides the shield, I was very happy with how the model turned out. Most of this miniature was painted with Vallejo Model Colour - the cloak was Russian Uniform and the tunic was Flat Earth. The more I use Vallejo, the more I like the paints!

Also, I didn't add a gradient background to these pics because of the fact that the Magic Wand tool keeps thinking that the shield is part of the background! Oh well...

More Romano-British...

Here is another spearmen from Foundry. I haven't finished the shield yet, and am waiting for some transfers to arrive from LBM. I have been experimenting with a different technique for painting faces - and this is the first product of my new method. I essentially covered most of the dark shade layer with the lighter layers, so that the face looks lighter and brighter.

Old Romano-British Spearman

Here is an old and gray spearmen from Foundry. Note that I havn't finished the shield yet - I am waiting for some transfers to arrive from LBM.

I am really getting the hang of this new camera! Here is a rather blue Romano-British model from Foundry with a decal by VVV. I did some blood splattering and a dented the shield to for a grisly effect to even out the pristine looking blue cloak.

New Camera - 1st Picture!

Here is an (albeit grainy) picture from the new camera. He is a Foundry Arthurian Spearmen with a VVV transfer (which has had some highlighting). I have finally figured out a good way to paint shields! Anyone interested in a tutorial? If so, I might be able to write something up...
